UVA Food Engagement & Discussion (FEED) Week

During Food Engagement & Discussion (FEED) Week, we will delve into the intersection of food, education, and community engagement.

Food: Food systems are more than just about nourishing people, but also about about nourishing minds, fostering dialogue, and advocating for positive change in our food systems. Here’s how FEED Week helps build a stronger food system:

Education: FEED Week educates individuals about food systems, nutrition, and sustainable practices. Workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions empower participants with knowledge to make informed choices to promote sustainability and justice in our local food system.

Engagement: Allows students to actively engage with their communities, bridging gaps and building connections. Whether it’s collaborating with local farmers, organizing food pickups, or hosting cooking classes, FEED Week encourages meaningful interactions.

Discussion: FEED Week sparks conversations about food security, access, justice, and equity. Participants engage elected officials, policymakers, and community leaders to shape policies that support everyone’s right to safe, healthy, and affordable food.

Beyond just a patchwork goal of feeding more people, FEED Week advocates for nourishment as a fundamental human right. By amplifying voices and advocating for systemic change, we work towards a world where no one goes hungry, all food that is produced is eaten, and a food system with justice for all.

Join us during FEED Week as we sow seeds of knowledge, cultivate empathy, and build stronger, healthier communities. Together, we can create a future where everyone has access to nutritious food and a strong, healthy planet to eat it on.
