Mini-grants now available for students and student organizations!
The UVA Sustainable Food Collaborative (SFC) is seeking grant proposals from students, student teams, and CIOs relating to food justice and food sustainability, thanks to a generous grant from the Committee on Sustainability.
All students with ideas for improving food sustainability at UVA are encouraged to apply! Applications must be submitted by 2/8 at midnight and applicants will be notified about the status of their decisions by 2/15, and final projects must be completed by 5/13. Proposals should relate to some aspect of the UVA Sustainable Food Action.
The UVA Sustainable Food Collaborative (SFC) is a coalition of stakeholders from UVA’s Office for Sustainability, the Institute for Engagement and Negotiation, UVA Dine, faculty, Facilities Management, and others. The SFC's goal for these grants is to advance the Sustainable Food Action Plan, a roadmap for growing food sustainability at UVA. In support of implementing the Action Plan, the UVA Committee on Sustainability granted the SFC funds to support student-led initiatives furthering food equity and sustainability and is now accepting applications for project proposals.
Example project ideas include: funding construction of a community garden near the Corner, creating a pilot composting program for Off-Grounds students, funding a CIO trip to visit a sustainable, local, or Black-owned farm, hosting an educational event with a guest speaker focusing on food justice or food sustainability, etc.
Please contact Maille Bowerman @ mcb7au@virginia.edu if you have any questions or concerns about the application process or project logistics.
